About Us:

I'm a native Vermonter and it’s always been the place she loved.  I'm inspired by all the details in nature such as the veins and contours of a lady slipper, the glistening splashes of sunlight suspended on the surface of a babbling brook, forest shadows and mountain sun.

Most of my work starts with being present in a place and experiencing the feelings of the environment.  I watch and study, often finding locations around where I live or frequent and am familiar with the play of light.  Digital photographs record for me what my eyes saw, but nothing replaces the sense of the place which is borrowed while being present.   Taking notes, even mental notes, reminds me of what captured my interest or what special effects the final work should have which the camera won’t capture.

If not outside, I go to work, or shall I say play, in my studio.  My cats check on my progress from time to time and even try to draw my attention away from my project.  Often, I prepare a practice piece (a study), or several, before I start my final work.  If I really like a subject, I may paint it several times.

We are blessed to be surrounded by so much beauty and my work tries to capture the layers of this beauty discovered in a scene or object.
